Home cooking feeds more than just our appetites –
it brings people together
Athens is the capital of Greece and for the majority of tourists the town where they can actually visit the Acropolis and touch the Parthenon marbles. It is the place where everything began!
However for Greek lovers and visitor repeaters, Athens is a hidden treasure and it has much more to present than the historical city centre. If you really want to meet modern Greeks and focus on present, instead of the past, you have to meet the highly contemporary, sophisticated and exciting identity of modern Athens.
Only just half an hour away from the city centre you can discover green spots you would never imagine you could find or you can enjoy the sea and the sun in the southern suburbs. Athens is cheap to navigate by taxi and has a very good (and new) metro network that can take you away from the city centre, to the suburbs or elsewhere.
There are many reasons to visit Athens and home-cooked, traditional food is definitely one of them! Whether enjoying a traditional plate in the shade of the Acropolis or a homemade authentic Greek recipe, you’ll definitely appreciate the pure ingredients from all over Greece. You will smell the herbs and spices from the islands and taste the exceptional vegetables the Greek soil offers in abundance. Greek gastronomy offers a complex and elevated taste and manages to combine austerity and grandeur in just one dish.
In Greece, a culinary experience is also the perfect occasion to meet people and enjoy a pleasant moment with friends and family. To raise your glass and tell your story or listen to their stories.
Korina, is a true foodie at heart who has an interesting story to share and a hidden delicious recipe for you to taste. Being an “original Greek” with an extrovert, spontaneous character like many Greeks, she has opened her house and kitchen for you with extra care and love. She was born and raised in Athens, but she has varied origins to present. Her character and cooking is an interesting and wild combination of islands of Zakynthos and Santorini, Peloponnese and Asia Minor.
Food has always been her great passion and a major part of her life with specialty in creating unique dining experiences with dishes prepared from scratch. But most of all, Korina enjoys meeting new friends from all over the world, sharing experiences and creating memories!
Korina will be delighted to offer you a welcome drink of homemade liqueur and after that a taste of traditional feta cheese wrapped in filo pastry, fried and drizzled with honey and black sesame seeds. You will enjoy olives from Kalamata, Bakaliaros a la Spetsiota – a signature dish from the island of Spetses, the very famous spinach pie and last but least the delicious Greek yogurt mixed with honey.
Tastes, flavours and aromas will travel you to special places to Greece and her kind heart and hospitality will accompany you on your way back home.
